The Hopper / Joey must have the CC set to ON for TVGuardian to activate. Even if all the other TVGuardian settings appear to be set, it won't activate without the CC set to ON. TVGuardian's CC MODE controls how CC is displayed: OFF, ON MUTE (recommended), or ON CONTINUOUS.
You should see the TVG icon in the left corner for a moment after you've started watching a show, exited the DISH program guide, hit FF/RW, etc. This indicates that TVG is active and filtering the show you're watching; if you never see TV, it's not active. During live shows like news, sporting events, and during some commercials TVG is not active and the TVG icon won't display.
We've noticed that when DISH sends out a software update for the Hopper, it sometimes disables TVGuardian, even though it looks like the App settings are turned ON.
This will fix it for you:
- Go into the TVGuardian App and make sure it's set the way you'd like. We recommend that you set the CC Mode to ON MUTE.
If you see a yellowish window labeled "CC Disabled," then click the [Turn CC ON] button.
TVGuardian should be active now, and you should see the TVG Icon displaying.
You may also try Step 2: - Go directly to the Hopper / Joey CC setting and set it to ON. You can access it from the Hopper / Joey settings menu, or from the Options remote button. This should also reactivate TVGuardian, as long as TVGuardian filter settings are set to your liking.
